Apéro at Catherine's

Maman's cousin Catherine invited us for apéritif at her apartment.

Boy, that's quite the spread here!

Guillaume told Alex his French is improving each time.

Showing his KC FIFA t-shirt.

Three generations: Catherine, Christine, Louise.

Thank you for the great apéro and conversation!

Hanging out in Louise's room to speak Franglais.

Shopping

Let's go to the mall to check out the grocery store and more!

Hey Sophie, we need more Haribo candy!

Always shocking to see Bonne Maman jam being sold for 3 Euros
incl 19.6% tax when US stores charges $7-8 for the same thing.

No Squishmallows at this toy store...

In France, one does not have to buy a Happy Meal to get the toy.
Welcome to Sophie's Squishmallow family, Benny! #FIFA26

Presqu’île Malraux

Walk to Presqu’île Malraux. This used to be one of Strasbourg's industrial areas where Papy and his dad worked on repairing cranes and other grain silo equipment back in the 1960'.

Walk by the Bassin d'Austerlitz.

This is now a mixed-used area with student housing,
offices, exhibits, movie theater, and a mall.

Do you see Papy's crane there?

Papy enjoyed playing with his Meccano as a child & later in life.

Haircuts

The tradition continues: each time we are in France, we get a haircut. Except for Papa, whose bangs no longer need to be trimmed...

Our college students needs a haircut the most. Mamy agrees!

So proud of the fact that they can both explain in
French what kind of a haircut they want.

Feels better now!

Srasbourg Brothers' Tour

Papa's brothers Mark and Vern were in Germany and drove down to Strasbourg. After visiting with Mamy, time to play tourists downtown!

Homebodies

We enjoyed staying home with Mamy.

Relaxing in the living room? Hardly. Mamy is fixing Maman's purse.

And mending Sophie's t-shirt full of holes...

Small kitchen? No problem! Beef bourguignon coming up.

Mamy always wears her tablier (apron).

Sophie is enjoying a quiet time by herself.

Mamy's chandelier is getting pretty low...

Tarte flambée

Another cousins' meeting for Maman. Enjoying tartes flambées this time.

Mamy's house is not far from l'Homme sauvage restaurant.

Hélëne introduced us to Yann.

Ah, the traditional tarte flambée is here!

Lardons, onions, fromage blanc: delicious!

Maman's cousins are just lovely. They were fun to babysit too!
