Rain

What do we do on a rainy Sunday morning? Chase each other with an umbrella, of course!

Ethnic Festival

We are always looking forward to attending the Ethnic Enrichment Festival each year. Eating delicious foods and watching how each country represents its culture. This year, Alex and Maman volunteered at the French booth for a couple of hours.

French food anyone?

Alex did an awesome job making crepes and
handing them out to customers

School

Summer vacation is officially over. Today was the first day of school. Both Alex and Sophie were excited to see their friends again.

4th and 7th grades, here we come! Are you ready for us?!?

Alex is ready for the bus to pick him up to go to middle school.
Sophie will now walk or bike to school by herself.

Friends

We had a great time catching up with Sook and her boys before school started.

Orthodontist

Alex had an orthodontist appointment. Maman couldn't agree more when she heard the staff tell Alex that his mouth was still growing. She even asked if they could add a filter. Needless to say that Alex was not amused. "Roast the Alex, roast the Alex, roast the Alex..."

I'm getting orange elastic bands this time

Brain there. Not sure I see the filter yet...

YMCA

The Y of the Rockies has awesome views and amenities.

Basketball, mini-golf, and of course the children's statue

Early morning walk

Wildlife

This elk prefers to eat soccer field grass than prairie grass.
He came down in the evening and early morning.

Last night in Estes Park. Loved to hang out with Christian.
All these activities made me sleepy.
A good thing I brought Rainbow Shine with me!

Rockies

We spent Sunday afternoon exploring Rocky Mountain National Park trails. Hiked to Bear, Nymph, Dream, and Haiyaha Lakes.

Last year, Bear Lake was so foggy, we couldn't see the
other side. Got lucky this year!

Merci Train

On our way to camp in Colorado, we stopped in Hays, Kansas to check out the French merci boxcar. These were built in the late 1800 in France and used during WWI to transport cargo, horses and soldiers. In 1949, France sent 50 boxcars (one for each state) full of gifts to thank the US for their help and support during WWII.
