We spend the weekend at Oma's house to go to the annual Nebraska MCC Sale. Alex participated in the children's auction and got himself a new crane and construction vehicles to share with Sophie.

Winter Wonderland

Last winter was so mild that we did not expect that much snow this time around. It snowed so much that school was cancelled for 4 days! Alex enjoyed sledding down the hill at school for the first time but Sophie is still not so sure about this cold stuff and would rather stay home.

Papa came to my school to help my classmates and I celebrate Valentine's Day this year. Got to make a cool box to collect all my Valentine's cards and candies. A girl gave me a Barbie card. What was she thinking! I guess she didn't know I'm not so much into dolls but rather into cars...

Happy Tet!

We celebrated Tet - Vietnamese new year - this past weekend. We went to the Catholic church and experienced our first mass all in Vietnamese. Sophie couldn't wait for the lion dance to start at the end of the service. We had some great spring rolls, pho and noodles. Now every time we go to a party, Sophie asks whether we'll see lions or dragons there.

After the year of the dragon, we're starting the year of the snake - which is Alex's new passion. He loves to read about king cobras, boa constrictor, green mambas, rattlesnakes, bush vipers and pythons to name a few. He couldn't believe that aunt Linda didn't have a favorite snake though. What's up with that?!?
